College kids don't have to pay back the debt until they're out of college, and you can get deferrals on the loans until you get a job. College tuition keeps going up because state funding is going down. 20 years ago, my university got 80% of it's budge from the state and tuition was about $600 a year. Now they get less than 10% from the state, and tuition is more than $16,000 a year to make up for it.
